Seat Covers Research Guide

There are various reasons why the original factory fitted upholstery must be protected. It is indeed ironical that while you're sitting comfortably in your car seat, the seat itself has to stand up to a tremendous amount of abuse. Such abuses are caused by dirty clothes, wet swimsuits, spilt drinks, kids snacking in the backseat, slobbering pets, seat friction and harsh sunlight. All these factors end up wearing out the interiors of the automobile. To add to your agony, a complete reupholster work may need to be done.
But the good news is, the days of worrying are almost over. That is because with the right set of seat covers from Coverking, you'll be able to:

  • Protect your upholstery from the various natural as well as man made hazards
  • Cover up any existing damage rather than having to reupholster your seats
  • Make over your interior to suit your tastes and lifestyle

Seat Cover Protection Reference
There are various soft points in a vehicle as well as certain "high-traffic" areas in your vehicle that fails to withstand the punishing use. There are several susceptible areas including car carpets which are constantly being trampled by dirty shoes, your steering wheel is being throttled non-stop by oily hands and your seats are always besieged by a steady onslaught of abuses. While the only surefire way to safeguard your seats is to stop driving your vehicle, that solution just isn't practical. Dressing your seats with a pair of form-fitting, protective seat covers is just as good, and this solution won't force you into riding public transportation either.

Your car seats face a number of perils, including:
Moisture
Particular fabrics are more susceptible to decay from moisture than others. Whether you're driving home from an outing at the local pool, a kayaking trip or an endless summer's day of surfing, the moisture in your clothing can lead to serious problems for your upholstery. Moisture is especially problematic for residents of the drizzly Pacific Northwest and other wet zones where the humidity is higher. Leather's worst enemy is water. When it gets wet, it becomes tacky to the touch - a sign that the leather's natural oils are being washed out.

A cloth fabric for the seat is also prone to damage from moisture. When water seeps into factory-installed fabrics, it can fester and grow into ugly, stinky, disgusting mold. Never fear; our seat covers come in a wide selection of materials with varying degrees of water resistance to protect your interior.

Kids and Pets
Kids and pets, no matter how cute they look, often destroy covers unintentionally. Nothing's quite as adorable as a toddler who's discovering the sweet delights of his or her first birthday cake. At the same time, that image of a child's tiny digits grabbing chunks of chocolate cake by the fist-full and smearing it over every square inch of the upper body should remind us that kids are just as messy as they are cute. But the fact is that, cleaning a seat is not quite that easy as it is to mop the kitchen. When the automobile gets dirty, it can be quite messy.

And pets can be a nuisance too. Not only do they leave saliva stains, but the hair can cling to everything as well. And also do not forget the fact that they can scratch up the surface and make it look quite awful really. However, with the right set of seat covers, you can prevent all this from happening.

Friction
You often unknowingly subject your original upholstery to a lot of stress while getting in and out of your vehicle. Like sandpaper on a jagged block of wood, the texture of your clothing grates against the texture of the upholstery (leather and cloth alike). This constant friction between your body and your seat steadily grinds away at your upholstery. And with this happening over a long time, the strength of the leather or fabric starts to wane, and it eventually splits the material.

UV Damage
We all depend on the sun and we cannot live without it. But there is a pinch too. The sun comes with UV rays and over exposure to the sun (that automobiles are often subjected to because you can never park it always under the shade) can be damaging. The fact is, direct sunlight on your covering material has a bleaching effect. Where once your seats were dark blue or black in color, an overdose of ultra violet radiation will leave your seats looking purple or ashen. So what you need is a seat cover that can protect the upholstery and if the cover has UV inhibiting properties, then it is a great answer to the problems.

A Guide to Covering Your Damaged Seats
Did you know that even the best upholstery for the automobile is almost sure to get damaged? May be there was a leaky pen that was left lying in the backseat, or a torn seam that's threatening to unravel completely. But there is no need to worry because now you do not need to go in for a complete reupholster job. It is costly and a lot of hassle – we understand.

Instead of calling up your dealer and shelling out a fortune, you can simply slide a new set of seat covers directly over the old ones. No muss, no fuss-just great looking seat covers that fit like a glove.

There are three different fitting seat covers from which you can make a choice. But which one should you go for? Let us investigate.

Custom Fit Seat Covers
Custom fit seat covers are like Armani suits that are measured, cut and stitched meticulously to fit the unique shapes and contours of the wearer. These are the covers that are planned before they are made. In the beginning, the exact make and model specifications are obtained from the automaker and they are then fed to the computer for the designing. Then this data is fed to the computer for the designing. And so what you get is a fit that is always precise.

But there’s more. Since these covers are custom made, they can accommodate all the functionalities and the features of the seats that all modern day automobiles come with. Without this, you would have never been able to use them completely, or would have to leave them unprotected.

Semi-Custom Fit Seat Covers
This is the second variety. They are economical than Custom covers and so there are some who prefer them. But the fact is that, these covers never fit as well as Custom covers. So if you are looking for protection above everything else, then you should not be using Semi Custom seat covers. Also, since they are not customized, you cannot ask for the special embroidery that you can do with Coverking Custom covers.

Universal Seat Covers
Like the name implies, Universal seat covers fit any high-back and low-back bucket seat, regardless of your year, make or model. These are the covers that you come across at the shopping malls and at the local automobile stores. These covers are never recommended because the Universal variety never fits the seat properly. And they cannot accommodate the features of the seats too.

Tips On Making Over Your Interior
Most automobile owners love their vehicles and they would go to any extent to ensure their safety and beautify it. Automobiles reflect the taste, personality and the preference of the owner. So you do not want to compromise on it. Get a seat cover that feels great, looks great and protects the upholstery. And, with all the different colors, patterns and materials at your disposal, you have an almost limitless array of ways to customize your interiors. Here are the basics:

Colors and Designs
Automobile manufacturers tend to design their interiors to please as many shoppers as they possibly can. In order to create that wide appeal, they usually use neutral colors and almost never add any patterns into the mix. However such constraints are no longer applicable as now, you can dress your seats in your favorite color, or even one of the radical and eye-catching designs. Coverking will let you do this. Now this is your opportunity to dress up the car, SUV, jeep or the van that you drive.
